OnePlus 6 and 6T get Zen Mode and Screen Recorder in new Open Beta

Vlad, 29 May 2019

With the OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro the company debuted a new version of its Android skin. OxygenOS 9.5 comes with a few new features, including Zen Mode and Screen Recorder. OnePlus has already promised to bring these to its flagships from last year, and today it has delivered on that promise.

The company has made new Open Beta builds available for the OnePlus 6 (Open Beta 19) and OnePlus 6T (Open Beta 11). These will be received as over-the-air updates by those who are enrolled on the OnePlus beta track.

The new builds come with Zen Mode and Screen Recorder built-in, as well as an improved smooth scrolling experience and support for VoLTE and VoWiFi on Telia Denmark. Additionally, the logic of dialing a contact while using two SIM cards has been optimized, and "Pin-to-top notification category" is now supported in India. Finally, the bug that allowed Facebook Messenger to pop up notifications when in gaming mode has been fixed.

The Open Beta builds aren't for the faint of heart, but these features are sure to make their way into a stable OxygenOS release for both the OnePlus 6 and 6T at some point in the near future, after the beta testing phase ensures there are no bugs.

If you feel adventurous and want to flash the Open Beta, follow the instructions here. Do note however that once you are on that track you will no longer receive the stable updates (only new betas), and if you ever want to go back to stable you will need to fully wipe all the data on your device.
