At the tipping point in 2023, 5G devices will account for about 51.4% of the market share. China is expected to consume 34% of the shipments followed by North America with 18.8% and Asia Pacific with 17.4%.

Canalys points out that the governments' efforts to accelerate 5G growth have contributed a lot. As a result, as early as 2020, in China, 5G devices are estimated to account for 17.5% of the total volume.

Still, keep in mind that successful 5G launch doesn't mean successful deployment. To reap the full benefits of the 5G network beyond eMBB (enhanced Mobile Broadband), it would take a lot more time and it would be very costly - significantly more complex than the 4G deployment.
