Samsung is cutting its Exynos production by 10% in light of South Korea-Japan trade dispute
At the beginning of the month, Japan imposed restrictions on its chemical exports to South Korea used in the production of displays and semiconductors components. As a result, a report from The Korean Herald claims that Samsung is cutting down its Exynos 9825 chipset production by an estimated 10% which would in turn slow down Galaxy Note10 production.
According to a Samsung official who remained anonymous, the slowdown in chipset production will be compensated in the coming months. Industry analysts have further commented that Samsung will have to reschedule its Galaxy Note10 production plans due to its lowering supply of chemicals like hydrogen fluoride which is vital in the chip production process.
As a result, Samsung’s Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong made an expedite visit to Japan to meet with component suppliers and figure out a workaround to the budding trade conflict. The Note10 is currently scheduled to be announced on August 7 while previous reports confirmed the device will hit shelves in Korea and the U.S. on August 23.

It would look much nicer if the Note10 was announced on August 10th instead of the 7th.
