Week 34 in review: Redmi 8 and Redmi Note 8 Pro leaks aplenty, Android 10 official
Realme unveiled the 5 and Realme 5 Pro this week. The Realme 5 is the bigger device at 6.5-inches and packs a Snapdragon 665, a mammoth 5,000mAh battery and a quad camera. It's main sensor is a 12MP f/1.8. The Realme 5 Pro packs a smaller 6.3-inch screen, a Snapdragon 712 and a quad camera with a 48MP main sensor.
Samsung meanwhile announced the refreshed versions of its Aseries best sellers - the Galaxy A50s and Galaxy A30s. Those add extra cameras and improve the design of the rear panel.
This week also brought about a bunch of Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 and Redmi Note 8 Pro leaks and teasers - we got to know much of their specs and their design. Xiaomi officially announced that the Redmi Note 8 family is arriving on August 29 and that should include the Redmi Note 8, the Redmi Note 8 Pro and likely the Redmi 8.
We also learned the battery capacities of the upcoming Huawei Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro. The duo promises to outdo Samsung's Galaxy Note10 series with 4,200 and 4,500mAh batteries, respectively.
A rumor suggested that Motorola's foldable Razr smartphone will arrive in Europe in December, priced at €1,500, which would put it as a cheaper alternative to the Galaxy Fold and Mate X.
The vivo NEX 3 surfaced in a live image, showing its extremely curved screen edges. The marketing term is waterfall screen. We don't know much about the vivo NEX 3 at this point but since the official teaser campaign is under way we expect to learn more about it in the following weeks.
The Xiaomi Mi A3 went on sale in India this Friday, August 23. It comes in two memory versions - 4GB/64GB priced at INR12,999 ($180/€165) and 6GB/128GB priced at INR15,999 ($225/€200).
The final bit of big news comes from Google. The dessert naming scheme is officially done and Android Q will be called Android 10. In related news, Google's redesigned Play Store is now official for everyone with a new bottom-placed navigation panel and a predominantly white background.
That's it folks, catch you next week!
