Samsung Galaxy A90 5G leaks in official renders

Vlad, 30 August 2019

Samsung has long been rumored to out a Galaxy A90 at some point this year, to top off the A family that so far goes only up to A80. The phone will have 5G support, and will be the highest-end Galaxy A ever. At the same time it should be Samsung's most affordable 5G handset yet.

Today in Korea an official-looking promo slide has been leaked, apparently originating on Samsung's own website, showing the device in all its glory (although the renders are pretty low-res). This has since been taken down. The image tells us that the A90 won't employ a rotating mechanism that makes the rear cameras take selfies when needed (like in the A80), instead going with a more traditional design, with a waterdrop notch up front housing a dedicated selfie snapper, and three rear shooters in a vertical island.

The white model pictured here seems to have a dual-tone finish on the back. According to previous leaks and rumors, the display will be a 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED, while the main rear cam is said to be a 48 MP unit, flanked by an 8 MP ultrawide and a third 5 MP snapper that could be a depth sensor. A "Tilt OIS" feature has been rumored, although we're still not clear on what exactly that might entail.

The A90 5G will have the model number SM-A908N, at least in some markets, and based on past benchmark runs the Snapdragon 855 chipset will be at the helm. While the presence of the flagship SoC might be surprising for an A-series device, that's probably required for the 5G support.

To be honest the rotating camera on A80 was a gimmick, and Samsung was trying something new with the gimmick, so they're not going to take it seriously and put it on other phones.

The only good kind of notch, it kinda have grown on me. :)

Why the notch? What a let down I thought it was going to have Sliding camera like the A80. This a backward step and a deal breaker for sure, was originally on my shortlist but will go for OnePlus 7 Pro now
