First-generation Pixels will get final update in December

The first-generation of the Google Pixel and Pixel XL did not receive the November update patch, which prompted many to realize that the OG Pixel has fulfilled Google’s promised run of OTA updates for its lifetime.

However, as confirmed by Google via The Verge the Pixel and Pixel XL will receive “one final software update” in December. Google explains that the first-gen Pixels won’t receive an update for November and that next month’s update “encapsulates a variety of updates” combines from both the November and upcoming December patches.

Google Pixel owners were surprised to see the Android 10 update since Google only promises two major OS updates and three years of patches. As the Pixel reaches the end of its officially supported life cycle, we wonder which device they’d look to update to.

I'm using a Pixel 2 and soon my day will come when my phone will stop getting updates. But perhaps I will update to a pixel 5 or 6 by then. I like pixel phones...if at all I switch, I will certainly not buy a 1plus, their after sales service is pathe...

This just makes me mad. Three years of updates is ridiculous. I am not an Apple fan, I've always had Nexus and Pixel phones, but Apple far outdoes Google with their five years of updates. My laptop is ten years old and it still gets updates. I j...

I would agree with your point for other manufacturers but not for google phones. It's been 3 years i've had OG Pixel XL and the battery life is still great (agreed it's meh for the smaller Pixel), performance is still smooth even with latest 10 updat...
