vivo Z5i arrives - a vivo U3 with more RAM and storage

Today vivo unveiled a new smartphone at its home market - the vivo Z5i. While the front looks like the vivo Z5 with a waterdrop notch, and the back appears to be borrowed from the vivo Z5x with its physical fingerprint scanner, the completely new phone is actually the vivo U3 with more memory.

This vivo has a Snapdragon 675 chipset that is coupled with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage. There is also a slot for a microSD card that can act as a slot for the second SIM. The most impressive feature of the phone is its 5,000 mAh battery that supports vivo’s proprietary 18W charging.

There are three cameras on the back - 16MP main shooter, 8MP cam with an ultrawide lens and a 2 MP depth sensor, while the selfie shooter is 16MP with an f/2.0 aperture in front. The phone comes with FuntouchOS 9.2 out of the box, based on Android Pie.

The vivo Z5i costs CNY1,798 ($255/€230) in China and we are still wondering whether it will appear on shelves elsewhere. It might appear like a new memory option for the vivo U20, available in India (that’s the overseas name of vivo U3), or vivo might decide for a completely new moniker since the company enjoys renaming phones so much.
