You may not hear about Coolpad often, but the brand may just have unveiled the most affordable 5G phone that will be available in the US. The Coolpad Legacy 5G will cost under $400 when it launches in Q2 of this year, you’ll be able to get one from Coolpad’s own site, Amazon and other US retailers.

The phone is powered by the Snapdragon 765G and supports sub-6GHz 5G, meaning it should work on T-Mobile’s and AT&T’s networks. This flavor of 5G is not as fast as mmWave, but it also doesn’t suffer from its coverage limitations.

Note that this is a single-SIM phone. It can work CDMA networks with support for Sprint’s bands, so you won't lose connection out of town. Bluetooth 5.0 is on board, though Wi-Fi 6 and NFC are not.

The chipset is hooked up to 4GB of RAM and 64GB of UFS 2.1 storage. There’s a microSD slot for more storage too. Even better, the phone will come with Android 10 out of the box.

The Coolpad Legacy 5G has a 6.53” IPS screen with HDR10 support. There’s a teardrop notch in it for the 16MP selfie camera. This camera supports face unlock, there’s also a fingerprint reader on the back.

AT the back there is the 48MP main camera and an 8MP ultrawide shooter. There’s no word on the video recording, however.

The 4,000mAh battery can be charged at 18W thanks to Quick Charge 3.0. There’s a 3.5mm headphone jack on top with audio tuning by THX.
