IDC: Samsung and Xiaomi dominate Indian smartphone market in H2 2019

Yordan, 22 January 2020

IDC has published its report on the Indian smartphone market in the July-November period and it's good news for Xiaomi and Samsung, which remained the top makers in the period.

September saw Samsung lose its second place to Realme, but the company sales went down after that and it was fifth for the final two months in the analysis. Its numbers are still amazing for a company that hasn't even had two full years in the market.

Market share (%) by Company July 2019 August 2019 September 2019 October 2019 November 2019
Xiaomi 25.47 26.92 28.36 29.26 30.42
Samsung 22.55 19.23 16.19 19.85 21.08
vivo 17 14.86 14.31 16.25 16.92
Oppo 11.31 12.15 11.88 11.42 11.12
Realme 10.64 14.36 16.74 9.33 8.23

Another trend to notice is Xiaomi expanding its lead over the second place maker.

vivo and Oppo were the most consistent performers and together with Realme the three BBK brands actually have more sales than anybody else.
