If you received a mysterious message on your Galaxy phone that just said “1”, there’s no need to be alarmed – this was just an internal test that somehow got sent out to real devices.

Samsung explained in a message on the Samsung Members app that this message was a mistake and it will have no effect on users’ phones.

The message was sent to a limited number of devices, but the event was not limited to a particular model or country, reaching from New Zealand to Canada, South America to Singapore. If you did receive it, tapping it does nothing.

The company is looking into ways of preventing such mistakes from reaching consumers again.
