The more affordable Redmi Note 9 comes with the same overall design as the Pro version and most of the same specs at the just over €200. We’ve received a Forest Green unit and here’s what grabbed our initial attention.

The phone has a 6.53” LCD, which is rather big and combined with the relatively thick bezels on the sides make for a pretty large phone. Still the footprint is more than decent for the screen size, considering the pricing of the phone.

Flipping the phone, we have the signature square camera setup, seen in all Redmi Note 9 devices. This vanilla version also has its fingerprint scanner here. It's not a fancy under-display sensor, but it's super fast and accurate.

The 48MP main shooter and the 8MP ultrawide camera are on the top row, while the bottom two units are a 2MP depth sensor and a 2MP macro shooter. The LED flash had to be moved to the side of the square setup, while below the snappers Xiaomi still put in the rather tacky “48MP AI Quad Camera” label.

The front camera has a 13MP sensor and f/2.3 lens. We'll certainly be examining the performance of all shooters in great detail in our detailed review.

Another of Xiaomi Redmi Note 9's key selling points is the 5,020 mAh battery that chargers over USB-C at up to 18W.

There is also reverse 9W charging through a cable, so you can share some of the power with other devices, provided you have the proper cable for that. In the box, you get a classic USB-A to USB-C cable and a 22.5W charger, as well as a transparent case to protect the phone.
