A new Oppo A53 is coming soon, specs leak

Vlad, 17 August 2020

Mid-range smartphones definitely have a quick turnaround these days, so with that in mind it makes sense that Oppo is already working on the Oppo A53, which is intended to be the successor to the A52 that launched just a few months ago, in April.

Weirdly enough the new A53 will share its name with a different Oppo phone that saw the light of day in 2015. Apparently the company thinks five years is enough time that no one would be confused by such a move.

A new Oppo A53 is coming soon, specs leak

Anyway, today a purported list of specs of the new Oppo A53 has leaked, and you can see it above. The phone is said to sport a 6.53-inch 90Hz LCD touchscreen, the Snapdragon 460 chipset at the helm, 4GB of RAM with 64GB of storage or 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, and a 5,000 mAh battery with 18W fast charging.

The front camera will be 16 MP and housed in a hole-punch cutout of the screen, while on the back we'll see a 13 MP main shooter flanked by a 2 MP macro cam and a 2 MP depth sensor, just so the A53 can claim to have a triple rear camera setup. The fingerprint sensor will be on the back too.

Presumably, the handset will launch running Android 10 with Oppo's ColorOS 7.x on top. The Oppo A53 has already been certified by multiple authorities across the world, so its launch may just be a matter of days, or weeks from this point on.
