Redmi 9i landing pages go up, the phone will be unveiled on September 15

Peter, 09 September 2020

Flipkart and Mi.com have published official landing pages for the Redmi 9i, which will be fully unveiled on September 15 (next Tuesday). The pages hint at some of the specs but don’t reveal everything.

However, the phone is supposed to be based on the Redmi 9A, so we already have a pretty clear picture of what to expect. Note that the teasers clearly show 4GB of RAM while even the top-specced 9A has only 3GB.

They also mention “big” storage (perhaps we’ll see 64 GB built in, double what the 9A has), storage is expandable via microSD. The phone also has a big screen (6.53” 720p on the 9A), big battery (5,000 mAh) and a prowess for gaming (supplied by the MediaTek Helio G25 chipset).

The teasers also boast about Redmi 9i’s photography skills, but unless the phone brings an upgrade to 9A’s single 13 MP camera this will remain just a boast.

The Redmi 9A is already available in India at a price of INR 6,800 for the 2/32 GB model while the more capable Redmi 9 (4/64 GB) starts at INR 9,000. Expect the 9i to be somewhere in between these two price points.
