Google Pixel 5 prototype's leaked image reveals weird design

Sagar, 26 September 2020

Google introduced the Pixel 4a last month and is rumored to launch the Pixel 5 on October 15, with the 4a 5G said to arrive in November. Thanks to the leaked renders and specs sheets, we have a pretty good idea of what to expect from both smartphones.

The Pixel 4a 5G and Pixel 5 look similar, but an image of what's allegedly a prototype of the Pixel 5 has surfaced, which reveals Google's team once considered a weird and strange design for the smartphone.

The prototype has a two-tone design reminiscent of the first-gen Pixel's from 2016, except that it's the bottom portion that's made of glass. At least that's what it looks like.

Google Pixel 5 prototype's leaked image reveals weird design

While the source says it is the Pixel 5, upon closer inspection, you can notice there's a cutout at the top for the 3.5mm headphone jack, which from previous leaks we know is absent on the Pixel 5 but is present on the 4a 5G, meaning this could be a prototype of the Pixel 4a 5G we are looking at. More so because the power button is painted white.

Whatever phone this is, we are glad Google scrapped this design in favor of a not-too-exciting yet sober one.

Some of us like the back fingerprint sensor. It's really nice to have a dedicated power button as well. Especially now with masks it's brilliant they didn't remove it.

Seriously, google really did impressed me with the P4. P5 can say goodbye because of just 1 item, the stupid finger reader. Since it’s a flagship, why can’t you make it more exclusive. Upon glance, your dumb P5 looks like a cheap Xiaomi phone! ...
