Samsung listened to feedback from its customers to create the perfect companion tablet for workers in the field. The Samsung Galaxy Tab Active3 comes with a rugged case that allows it to survive drops from 1.5 meters (5 ft). Even without the case it should live through a fall on a flat surface from 1.2 m (4 ft).

IP68 dust and water resistance ensure that it can work in rain or shine. The 8.0” LCD is designed to be operated with gloved hands, but if the gloves prove too thick, then the IP68-rated S Pen can be used to navigate the UI.

The Galaxy Tab Active3 is powered by the Exynos 9810 chipset (aka Galaxy S9/Note9’s chipset). It’s paired with 4GB of RAM and 64/128 GB storage, expandable with microSD cards. The tablet runs Android 10 with DeX mode for a desktop like experience along with the security protections of Knox.

Biometric authentication is done with the fingerprint reader or face recognition. There’s a 5 MP front-facing camera for video calling as well as a 13 MP cam on the rear for general photography.

A desk is not this tablet’s natural habitat. It has a 5,050 mAh battery that can be swapped out by the user on the go. Also, it can be charged in docks thanks to the pogo pins (or using regular USB when available).

The slate has a “No Battery” mode, which can be toggled from the settings. This allows it to be used as a stationary kiosk without degrading the battery. Third-party add-ons can be used to scan barcodes or add mPOS functionality.

This tablet and the Galaxy Xcover Pro phone will receive three major OS updates, which is an important considerations for business, which typically use equipment longer than consumers.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab Active3 is available starting today in select countries in Europe and Asia, availability in other regions will be announced later. There’s a Wi-Fi only version (with Wi-Fi 6 connectivity) as well as an LTE model.

New? I guess you are new in the tech world. Samsung brings back, what has been before. They try to call it new and never seen before, but they forget that many of us have seen it before. From Samsung.

I just bought a Galaxy Tab A 2019 with S-Pen , only complain is the 3Gb ram. Thinking of maybe returning it if this turns out to be not too expensive. -> How expensive do you think this Active 3 is going to be (USD)?
