Oppo to introduce a concept phone with rollable display at Inno Day 2020

Yordan, 16 November 2020

Oppo Inno Day is a yearly conference where the Chinese company reveals its latest innovations. Last year's edition saw an under-display camera, and tomorrow we’re expecting a smartphone with 125W fast charging.

The company is also going to introduce a concept device with a rollable display, according to an official post on Weibo.

The image does not reveal how the display rolls/retracts but looking at the image and how other companies like LG went with the solution, it is pretty obvious we’re looking at another groundbreaking technology for Oppo. Also, the company itself wrote “in the future, your phone will be able to retract freely”.

The Oppo Inno Day is taking place in Shenzhen, China, and while we were able to attend last year, this time understandably we have to watch from home. We’ll follow the event and update you on all the latest innovations once the conference is over.

Same like fold i dont think a screen which can breaks by nails will be a groundbreaking technology. Rollable displays from LG or Oppo is the same. It will be very costly and of course not good for use.

It will be plastic just like the Galaxy Fold because glass needs to be heated up to certain degree to be able to change its shape. They could create a mechanism or backplate that retracts following the screen.
