HTC Desire 21 Pro 5G announced with SD690 and 90Hz display

Without any heads-up, HTC silently announced its mid-range 5G-capable smartphone, the Desire 21 Pro 5G. The landing page is on its official Taiwanese website providing all the specs we need along with pricing and availability.

The device is built around a 6.7-inch IPS LCD, 1080 x 2400px resolution display supporting 90Hz refresh rate and HDR10 content. The panel is powered by a Snapdragon 690 chipset supporting 5G connectivity and is paired with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage expandable via microSD. No other storage variants are available.

The back houses four cameras - 48MP main camera with f/1.8 aperture, 8MP ultrawide one with f/2.2 aperture and two more 2MP sensors one used for macro shots while the other provides depth information. The front, where the centered punch-hole is, resides a 16MP unit.

A 5,000 mAh battery keeps the lights on supporting QC 4.0+ fast charging of up to 18W. Sadly, the phone runs Android 10 out of the box.

The phone is currently available for pre-order only in Taiwan with no word on global release. The available colors are blue and purple and the launch price is TWD 11,990 (~$430), which is rather steep and hopefully, the price will be different for the rest of the world.
