Apple introduces Time to Walk feature for Fitness+ users

Yordan, 26 January 2021

Walking has become a favorite activity for many in these pandemic times, and Apple just introduced a way to make it more interesting. Starting this week, the company is bringing a feature called Time to Walk - it is available to Apple Watch owners who have subscribed to the Fitness+ program.

The new feature comes with narration and favorite playlists by celebrities such as Dolly Parton and Shawn Mendes. Every week until the end of April, there will be new episodes with guests, and all previous will be stored in the Workout app of the Watch.

Every episode includes a guest’s personal moments and lessons learned, meaningful memories, and various thoughts. The narration will be accompanied by photos that appear on the screen of the Apple Watch, and following each story, there will be a short playlist of songs that gave the celebrity motivation and inspiration.

Owners of Apple Watch can enjoy Time to Walk if they connect their AirPods or other Bluetooth headphones. Episodes will range between 25 to 40 minutes and appear automatically in the Fitness+ tab of the Workout app. Once the episodes are downloaded, Wi-Fi or cell connection is not needed.

The idea is a neat combination of celebrity-curated playlists and guest podcasts, crunched into a short timeframe for a daily walk - all the exercise some people are allowed during the pandemic. However, this remains an exclusive feature since Fitness+ is available only in six countries and limited to Apple users.
