Galaxy Tab S7 and S7+ update will add Pen to text feature, support for Buds Pro's 360 Audio

Peter, 18 February 2021

An upcoming update for the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 and S7+ will significantly improve the experience of using the S Pen and Galaxy Buds Pro with the Android slates.

This update will allow you to enter handwritten text in apps that usually expect keyboard input – for example, you can write a URL in the browser and a query in the search field, the software will take care to translate that to digital text.

Also, Samsung Notes will be able to the same automatic conversion with the ‘Pen to text’ option. It supports over 80 languages (any language supported by the Samsung Keyboard) and it recognizes punctuation as well. A couple of nifty gestures let you quickly fix mistakes – e.g. drawing a “v” will insert a space between letters, a “⌒” will connect separate words.

Note: the Pen to text app will be added in late February as part of an update that will roll out to select markets.

Samsung Notes will also gain the ability to scan and edit documents by snapping a photo with the tablet’s camera.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S7 and S7+ update will add Pen to text feature, support for Buds Pro's 360 Audio

The new Samsung Galaxy Buds Pro have a feature called 360 Audio, which tracks your head movements and adjusts the direction of sound for a more immersive experience. This doesn’t work with the Tab S7 and S7+ yet, but will be enabled as part of the update.

By the way, 360 Audio works with other devices getting updated to One UI 3.1 – here’s the list in case you missed it. It seems that it will be enabled on the older Tab S6 and Tab S6 Lite as well, even though Samsung has not officially confirmed they’ll get One UI 3.1 yet.

Yeah, years LESS than Samsung. Have for seen the size of the pen for the Galaxy Note phones? It's like 1/8 inch thin, it fits inside a phone and does BT and wireless charging plus full IP68 rating.

Apple has had this for years

I didn't say even once that Apple does not copy Samsung. I was just saying that it feels good when it's the other way around because I am an apple fan.
