Samsung Galaxy M12 is coming to India on March 11 with a surprise upgrade to a 90Hz screen

A little over a month after it was first unveiled the Samsung Galaxy M12 will go on sale in India. It already has a landing page on the local Amazon and Samsung pages. The search results on Samsung.com let it slip that we’ll see the 4GB and 6GB versions of the phone (the base 3/32GB configuration is nowhere to be seen).

The launch is scheduled for March 11 at 12 noon, which is Thursday next week. It’s too early to talk about the price of the phone, but we can look at its closest relatives – the M11 launched at INR 15,000 (now down to INR 11,000), the current Galaxy A12 also started at INR 15,000 (now discounted to INR 14,000).

The landing pages in India list the 6.5” LCD as having 90Hz refresh rate while there was no mention of it previously - note that Samsung has pulled the Vietnamese page. Anyway, a high refresh rate is not the reason why the M12 is better than the A12.

The M-series model also has an Exynos 850 chipset, which is a good deal more advanced than the Helio P35 – 8 nm vs. 12 nm, Cortex-A55 vs. A53 and a faster GPU to boot. The M12 gets the upper hand again in the battery department with 1,000 mAh extra in the tank, which brings the total to 6,000 mAh (both phones charge at 15W).

Both phones use the 48 MP ISOCELL GM2 sensor in their primary cameras and pair it with a 5 MP ultra wide-angle cam (123º). That’s everything we have so far – we thought we knew everything there is to know about the Galaxy M12, but that proved not to be the case. So, check back next week for the price and any other changes.
