It looks like OnePlus has angered its fans – the results from last week’s poll show that voters were against the new models 4 to 1. We rarely see a result quite so negative, however, it seems that not everyone shares this opinion.

The OnePlus 9 series raked in pre-orders much higher than last year’s 8 series, eclipsing it by over 300%. The pre-order period ended this week with the OnePlus 9 Pro going on sale in multiple regions around the world on Wednesday. The vanilla OnePlus 9 became available a few days before that.

Then there’s the OnePlus 9R, a revamped 8T. That is still a couple of weeks out, so we yet to find out how it will fare in the market place. We do know how it did in the poll, though, about as well as its siblings – none of the three could go above 19% positive vote.

In the past OnePlus was heavily reliant on its fan base (for what it’s worth, it was a very loyal fan base). Now it seems that the company has cracked into the mainstream. All that is left to do now is wait for analysts to crunch the numbers and publish their Q2 reports to see if OnePlus has accelerated its growth as much as the pre-order data suggests.
