The absolute entry-level model in the entry-level A-series from Oppo is about to get a refresh. Last year saw the A15 and A15s launch, but soon the Oppo A16 will be out and about.

So far, the upcoming phone has received a bunch of certifications here and there, which have revealed the fact that it sports a 5,000 mAh battery, a 10W charger in the box, and that it will run ColorOS 11.1 based on Android 11 from the get-go.

The A16 was certified by the FCC (which is the source of the sketch above), as well as relevant authorities in Singapore, China, and India. The BIS listing in India suggests the Oppo A16 will be sold in that country when it launches. The Oppo A15 is currently available for around INR 10,000, so we should probably expect a similar price point for its successor.

The Oppo A15 and A15s share the same MediaTek Helio P35 chipset, paired with 2/3/4GB of RAM and 32/64/128GB of storage, and they both have the same triple rear camera setup with a 13 MP main sensor and a couple of 2 MP fillers. The battery capacity of the A16 will be a solid improvement over the 4,230 mAh cells of its predecessors, let's wait and see if other parts are going to be similarly enhanced.

What does the looks of them matter ? They are rugged phones as they are made to last for extreme conditions

Coz they look shocking in fairness. They're all angular and horrible looking. Name one rugged phone that doesn't look like it's jumped from the top of the ugly tree and smashed into every branch on the way down?
