Google Stadia support finally arrives to more Android TV devices on June 23

Enrique, 08 June 2021

Google Stadia is often marketed as a better alternative to a console because it can be played on any display. Games can be played on the growing list of Android Phones and the Chrome browser will let you stream a game as well. If you wanted to play on the couch, however, the only way you could do it is with the Chromecast Ultra 4K.

Google Stadia support finally arrives to more Android TV devices on June 23

Google's Stadia Blog published news that the game streaming service will be available on Google's most recent Chromecast device: the Chromecast with Google TV. In addition, Stadia will be compatible on a variety of Android TV devices. Here's the list of devices that will support Stadia beginning on June 23.

  • Chromecast with Google TV
  • Hisense® Android Smart TVs (U7G, U8G, U9G)
  • Nvidia® Shield TV
  • Nvidia® Shield TV Pro
  • Onn™ FHD Streaming Stick and UHD Streaming Device
  • Philips® 8215, 8505, and OLED 935/805 Series Android TVs
  • Xiaomi® MIBOX3 and MIBOX4

If your Android TV or Android TV-powered device is not on the list, you'll be able to opt-in to an experimental build of Stadia. Users will be able to find the Stadia app in the Play Store and once installed, it can be launched and run once an opt-in disclaimer is accepted.

Since it's still in development, stability and support is not guaranteed for unsupported devices. More hardware will be added to the list of supported hardware in the coming weeks. You'll be able to use a Stadia Controller or a compatible Bluetooth controller paired to the Android TV.

Very dumb thing with this is that they are region and country based so you need a VPN to use it and the list of countries that this is supported is very low
