Xiaomi rumored to release flagship with UWB and under-display camera

If a report from leaker Digital Chat Station is to be believed, Xiaomi is planning to release a flagship of the same caliber as the Xiaomi MI 11 Ultra. According to a Weibo post, the new flagship will feature UWB (Ultra-wide band) tracking technology and an under-display selfie camera.

UWB is already featured in both Apple and Samsung’s latest flagship devices. The Samsung SmartTag and Apple AirTag both use this technology for precise tracking using the Galaxy S21 and iPhone 12, respectively. Xiaomi could be planning to introduce UWB-compatible, trackable accessories.

In recent implementations, the under-display camera is still not ideal since a display is not yet transparent enough for light to pass through. Although, a recent patent from Google could solve this by using a switching prism.

The Xiaomi flagship should feature a camera setup just as (if not more) impressive as the Mi 11 Ultra’s. In addition, the device may feature 120W wired fast-charging with support for 70W fast-wireless charging.

Phone Arena’s report speculates that such a flagship device may not necessarily succeed the Mi 11 Ultra, but rather the Mi 10T series.

Because many people buy them. Galaxy phones also have good support as many people buy them. Nothing do with miui being bad. The current 12.5 implementation is the best yet getting as good as oxygen OS, easily beating OneUi
