Michail, 21 June 2021

According to reports from earlier this month, Samsung already started mass production of its Galaxy Z Fold3 and Z Flip3 foldables. Now, FrontPageTech and John Prosser are reporting that 50,000-70,000 units of each foldable are being made per day leading up to the alleged (and still not officially confirmed) August 3 launch date. According to the same report, Samsung is looking to sell a total of 7 million units of its two new folding phones. Open sales are expected to begin on August 27.

Noted tech journalist Roland Quandt is also confirming the aforementioned report and chimes in that Samsung has begun manufacturing its Galaxy Watch 4 series and Buds Pro 2 earphones. There’s also talk of several thousand Galaxy S21 FE units being produced.

In related news, Korean outlet The Dailyan reports that Samsung has begun sending the first units of the Z Fold3 and Z Flip3 to local carriers SK Telecom, KT Corporation and LG Uplus. The telecoms are reportedly testing out the new devices on their respective networks.

The Dailyan report specifies that the Galaxy Z Fold3 will sell for KRW 1.9 million (around $1,675) while the Galaxy Z Flip3 should come in at KRW 1.3 million ($1,145). These rumors match previous speculation of a 20% price drop for the new generation of Galaxy Z foldable compared to their predecessors.
