Realme 8s leaks: official images and specs are out

Vlad, 29 July 2021

Unsurprisingly given its usual new phone release pace, Realme is working on its next device, and today a huge leak brings us its specs and some official-looking images too.

The device in question is said to be called Realme 8s, and in spite of the lack of 5G branding, this will be a 5G capable smartphone. In fact, it's a bit of a confusing addition to the Realme 8 family. Because of the 5G support, it can only be viewed as a a slight improvement over the Realme 8 5G, which it is. We're not sure whether it will end up being sold alongside all the other Realme 8 branded handsets or not.

Anyway, let's dive into the specs. The Realme 8s is said to have a 6.5-inch display (unknown if LCD or OLED) with 90 Hz refresh rate, a 64 MP primary rear camera, and a 16 MP selfie snapper. At the helm sits MediaTek's Dimensity 810 SoC, paired with 6/8 GB of RAM and 128/256 GB of storage. The phone will run Android 11 with Realme UI 2.0 on top, and it has a 5,000 mAh battery with 33W fast charging support.

So we have the screen size and refresh rate of the Realme 8 5G, the main camera of the Realme 8, the same selfie snapper as on all the other members of the family, and the same battery capacity as both the Realme 8 and 8 5G, but with faster charging than both of those. Oh, and the chipset is new to the series.

The Realme 8s will also have a side-mounted fingerprint sensor (which seems to lean the display choice towards LCD, but that's not even "confirmed" by a rumor right now), a purple color version, and a grand total of three rear cameras.

It requires hardware(dualband supported GPS chip, Antenna&RF circuit for dualband) Processor don't have GPS functionality, usually manufacturer uses 4in1 chip(Wi-Fi/BT/GPS/FMRadio)

Realme must provide firmware which supports dual frequency gps instead of just churning out new phones. So many chips from mediatek and Qualcomm support dual frequency gps and realme keep selling phones without enabling it
