You can now make new WhatsApp chats disappear by default after 90 days

Sagar, 07 December 2021

Last November, WhatsApp introduced the disappearing messages feature that deletes chats automatically after seven days. And a year later, it has increased that time limit, allowing you to set messages for auto-deletion after 24 hours or 90 days in addition to the previous one-week option.

Not just that, WhatsApp users will now also have the option to turn on the disappearing messages feature for all new individual chats by default. Previously, it had to be enabled manually. And, once you've turned on default disappearing messages, the app will display a message in your chats telling the same to the people, so they know it's nothing personal.

WhatsApp users can now turn on disappearing messages for new group chats as well.

This new feature is optional, and WhatsApp says it doesn't affect your existing chats. To enable it on iPhone and Android devices, navigate to WhatsApp's Settings > Account > Privacy > Default message timer menu and select the duration.

You can head this way to learn more about the disappearing messages feature.
