Samsung to unveil the Exynos 2200 on January 11

Peter, 30 December 2021

The Exynos 2200 is coming sooner than expected – the new flagship chipset with AMD graphics will debut on January 11. This is the week after CES and the rumored date for the Galaxy S21 FE launch.

Of course, the FE will use the older Snapdragon 888 and Exynos 2100 chipsets, depending on the market (more specs here). This new chipset will be reserved for the upcoming Galaxy S22 series, which are expected to arrive in February.

The RDNA 2 based GPU will be the highlight of the chip – this architecture is also used in AMD’s RX 6000-series GPUs and is featured in custom chips used in the current Xbox and PlayStation consoles, plus the upcoming Valve Steam Deck.

The hardware support for ray tracing will be a first for mobile, so it will be interesting to see what the gaming industry does with it. Indeed, gaming seems to be the focus of this chipset as all flagship chips for Android will use the same CPU hardware (ARM’s new cores).

There are many Chinese people here, not necessarily from mainland China. Also, there's no stopping some mainland Chinese people from using a VPN to bypass the Great Firewall. How do you think so many of them post on Twitter?
