Weekly poll results: strong demand for the Galaxy S22 Ultra, the other two are in its shadow

Peter, 20 February 2022

You can’t call it a Note, but you can call it a winner – the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra decisively topped the chart in last week’s poll. It was by far the most popular option and this is still in the pre-order stage, before detailed reviews have come up. This phone just has people excited.

There is still a large contingent of people waiting on reviews (we’re working on it), but so far the future of the S22 Ultra looks bright. Will people warm up to its two siblings, given positive reviews?

Maybe. Right now both the Galaxy S22 and S22+ are failing to convince people that the new cameras and other upgrades are worth it. In fact, seeing how the Galaxy S21 series will get extended support (one more OS update and one more year of security patches than originally planned), the 2021 phones are looking quite good to a lot of people.

Between the two, the S22 seems better liked. Its size is a major draw as quite a few people want a not-huge flagship – the S22 is the smallest Samsung flagship since the S10e and it's much closer in features to the larger siblings than the E model was. That said, some appreciated the bigger dimensions of the Galaxy S22+, though keeping the display at 1080p+ rubbed others the wrong way (the S20 and S20+ had 1440p+ displays).

Pre-orders end next week and open sales will begin on the 25th, so the first sales figures should be published soon. Pre-announcement forecasts predicted that the vanilla Galaxy S22 will outsell the S22 Ultra, which in turn will outsell the S22+. And while the Ultra is definitely the more desirable product, it does cost 50% more than the vanilla model - what people want is not always what they can afford.

Expect the first of our Galaxy S22 series reviews to come out soon.

Where did you see that ? Cause I've only read bout an upgrade

I always loved the large screens in the note line but I'm also not a fan of curved screens. Specs in gsmarena show that the S22U received slight camera downgrades over the S21U. Also, the vanilla and plus finally received long missing 3x optical...

Does it also have a bigger screen? And midrange/budget phones usually come with a less efficient processor.
