Peter, 14 March 2022

The Redmi K50 series will launch on March 17 (Thursday) and it will include members powered by the flagship Dimensity 9000 as well as ones with the Dimensity 8100 (also Snapdragons). These details were revealed as warm-up before the big event and more information keeps trickling in.

For example, the K50 series will be the first to offer Bluetooth 5.3 and LC3 audio (LC3 is a high-quality successor to the SBC audio codec). The phones will also be certified for Hi-Res Audio (wired and wireless) and will feature stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos.

There’s more. The display will use a Samsung-made OLED panel with 1,440 x 3,200 px resolution (for a sharp 526 ppi pixel density), Dolby Vision, DC dimming and Gorilla Glass Victus protection. DisplayMate has already tested the panel and has awarded it an A+ score (for setting or matching 16 display records).

The Redmi K50 phones will also support Wi-Fi 6 (ax) with 160 Hz bandwidth. Additional connectivity features include dual-frequency GPS, NFC and an IR blaster. Xiaomi isn’t hiding the design, in fact here is one of the colorways – “Silver Trace”. A darker colorway was unveiled before that. If you zoom in, you will see a triple camera and the “108 MP” label.
