YouTube TV is finally getting picture-in-picture on iOS

Yordan, 31 March 2022

Youtube has finally brought picture-in-picture mode for YouTube TV on iOS. The feature, which has been on Android for some time now, is rolling out for devices, running iOS 15 and newer, the company announced on Twitter.

Users watching TV programs can exit the app with a simple swipe up from the bottom, and the iPhone/iPad will return to the device’s homepage, while the video will continue running PIP. The window can then be resized and moved around the screen.

The feature is currently present for all YouTube Premium subscribers (both on Android and iOS) who wish to continue watching a video while doing other stuff or simply listen to the audio when the device is locked. Google did reveal it is planning to allow PIP for everyone in the United States, but this clearly hasn’t happened yet.
