Oppo K10 Energy arrives with Snapdragon 778G and 12GB RAM

Oppo K10 Energy went official today after the phone was spotted earlier this month. The name can also be translated as Lite or Youth or Vitality, but Oppo put "Energy" on the back so we're sticking with that. The phone is meant to be a more affordable version of the Oppo K10 5G with a Snapdragon 778G chipset and is already up for sale in China.

This K10 smartphone has a 6.59” LCD with 120 Hz refresh rate and Full HD+ resolution. There is a punch hole in the left corner for the 16MP selfie camera. Around the back sits a 64MP main camera alongside an 8MP ultrawide and 2MP auxiliary snappers.

Most of these features sound familiar, and that’s because they are identical to the Oppo K9s specs sheet. The main difference is the memory - Oppo K10 Energy is sold with 12GB RAM and 256 GB storage, which is mightier than any K9s version.

Other specs include a 5,000 mAh battery with 30W fast charging, fancy cooling, ColorOS 12 based on Android 12 and two new colors - Black and Blue. The price is CNY2,199 on Oppo’s online store but we do not expect this phone to escape the domestic market at all.

What is the reason that brands incorporate different chipsets for similar products? Is it just a marketing strategy that the OPPO K10 5G is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity processor and this one by Snapdragon?
