ROG Phone 6 Pro takes AnTuTu crown in July

Yordan, 04 August 2022

Qualcomm introduced the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset as a mild upgrade over the regular 8 Gen 1, and the first phones with the new platform arrived in July. Antutu just released its monthly list of best-performing Android phones, and we are not surprised the see the top two occupied by devices with the new flagship chipset.

The ROG Phone 6 Pro with 18 GB RAM and 512 GB storage scored over 1.1 million points, closely followed by another Asus phone, the Zenfone 9. The Red Magic 7 by nubia completed the rostrum and become the leader among those with the non-Plus chip.

Antutu added a new ranking this time around for sub-flagships. Two Dimensity 8100-powered phones are on top - OnePlus 10R and Oppo Reno8 Pro 5G, followed by several Snapdragon 870 devices. We can see that the 8100-Max version inside the OnePlus 10R has a minor edge over the regular chip.

Finally in the mid-range segment we only see three different chipsets represented in the top 10 and two of them are very closely related - the Snapdragon 778G and 780G. Mediatek's Dimensity 920 is the one that prevented this from becoming a clean sweep.

The score for each phone is calculated as an average of all results for devices that have at least 1,000 runs of the benchmarks. The memory combo, written next to the model name, is the highest available on the market and not necessarily responsible for all runs.

Classifications in August in the flagship field are expected to be different as more Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 phones reach the minimum number of runs to qualify, including the Xiaomi 12S Ultra and the Red Magic 7S.
