Bullitt teases an upcoming phone with satellite connectivity

Bullitt co-founder Richard Wharton confirmed in a BBC article, that the device would feature seamless switching between Wi-Fi, cellular and satellite connectivity. If the users can’t access the first two wireless connections, the phone will automatically link to one of two global satellite networks for text messages only. This feature will allow Bullitt’s upcoming phone to send SMS messages worldwide in dead zones without coverage though users with non-Bullitt smartphones will have to download a Bullitt app to read and receive these messages.

The Bullitt phone user will also have to pay a monthly subscription fee for the satellite service. Bullitt’s satellite-connected smartphone is expected to debut in Q1 2023 - meaning we could realisticly see the device debut at MWC Barcelona in February. Bullitt also confirmed the upcoming device is running a customized chipset though we don’t get details on the model or manufacturer.
