Weekly deals: the best smartphone and smart watch deals from around the world

Peter, 30 October 2022

A lot has happened in the last couple of years and it has made the market more price sensitive, so finding a good deal is more important than ever. And while we can’t help you navigate the housing market, we can help you find a cool new phone on the cheap.

Below are the best deals that we have found this week. If you want more, you can check out our Daily deals page, which is kept up to date and offers info like a price history so that you can see whether something is a true discount or just the price fluctuating up and down. The at-a-glance info we have compiled below has quick links to the device’s specifications, our review and (of course) the store where you can get one.

Also, since we serve a global audience, we have broken this down by region to make it easier to make it easier to navigate. Here are links to jump straight to the section you care about:

Mobile gaming has surpassed PC and console gaming combined, so if you haven’t already, now may be the time to jump in. The Black Shark 5 Pro brings a 6.67” 144Hz OLED display, pop-up gaming triggers and a powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset, plus a fast-charging 4,650mAh battery with a 120W adapter.

The other US deals are from Motorola. The Moto Edge 30 Pro is a sleeper gaming phone – the casual exterior can’t hide the 6.7” 144Hz OLED display or the power of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chip. This one has a relatively fast 4,800mAh battery (68W charging) too.

Then a couple of cheap stylus-equipped options. The Moto G Stylus (2021) is showing its age, but with a 6.8” display it is a cheap phone that will let you sketch out your ideas. You might want to go for the 5G model, however. It costs a bit more, but you get faster connectivity and more memory.

USA Canada

The deals we picked out for Canada are simple – the Samsung’s latest foldables dropped in price, so now may be your chance to experience the next gen form factor.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 is has a very cheap upgrade from 256GB to 512GB storage. You can fill that with video or files you are working on (the screen aspect ratio is great for emulating old games too, just saying).

The Galaxy Z Flip4 tends to sell better, not necessarily because of its superior form factor (that’s a personal choice), but because it is much cheaper – half the cost in this case.

Here you can pick between two different takes on the same formula – the Realme GT Neo 3 (80W) and the Poco X3 GT. The former is pricier and offers a 6.7” 120Hz AMOLED display, a faster Dimensity 8100 chipset and a better 50MP (1/1.56”) main camera with OIS.

The Poco X3 GT drops down to a Dimensity 1100, its 5,000mAh battery needs 10 min more to fully charge (67W vs. 80W) and you get a basic 64MP (1/.97”, no OIS) camera. The Poco is a bit cheaper and offers a 120Hz IPS LCD for those who prefer it over AMOLED.

You can also pick up one of Samsung’s latest smartwatches with Wear OS 3.5 and One UI Watch 4.5. The Galaxy Watch5 Pro is larger at 45mm diameter and 1.4” display, this means a larger 590mAh battery too (the largest of any Galaxy Watch). The Galaxy Watch5 is more fitting for smaller wrists at 40mm (1.2” display, 284mAh battery).

For less money you can have the Nokia X10 with similar specs – 60Hz 6.67” IPS LCD, 5G connectivity (Snapdragon 480), 48MP main and 5MP ultra wide cameras, plus a 4,470mAh battery with 18W charging. The X10 launched last year with Android 11, but HMD has committed to 3 years of OS updates and patches, so it the phone will stay fresh for a while. The Galaxy M series is not part of Samsung’s extend OS update program, though it should get 4 years of security patches.

Sorry I don’t use watch. My keypad phone is enough for watching time 😒

How can you keep a straight face, and offer the Nokia X10 in one segment and the Samsung Fold 4 at another segment ?? There's no consistency here. It's just random devices. I get it, this article is actually the hardest one to write ...
