vivo launches global Y55s 5G model

We are not entirely sure why vivo remains so fixated on the Y55s moniker, but here we are with yet another phone bearing the same model name. It should not be confused with the Y55s from 2017, nor with the Y55s 5G from 2021. Though, its specs are pretty similar to the latter. This new Y55s 5G, however, is meant for international markets.

The main difference we can see is that the new vivo Y55s model has a smaller 5,000 mAh battery compared to the 6,000 mAh of its namesake. Other than that, it still has 18W charging. All of its other specs look identical too. The phone measures 164 x 75.84 x 8.25mm and weighs 187 grams. It can be had in either galaxy blue or star black colors.

It has a 6.58-inch, FullHD+ (2408 x 1080) LCD, MediaTek Dimensity 700 chipset with either 4GB or 6GB of RAM and 128GB of non-expandable storage. There is no 8GB RAM option as there is on the 2021 variant. The phone also has dual SIM 5G support, dual-band Wi-Fi ac, Bluetooth 5.1, a USB Type-C port with OTG support, FM radio, NFC and a full array of sensors, including gravity, light, proximity, compass, gyroscope and a side-mounted fingerprint reader.

The camera department includes a 50MP, f/1.8 main camera and two additional 2MP, f/2.4 snappers on the back – one for portrait depth info and the other for macro shots. That’s technically one more camera than the 2021 edition of the phone. On the front – is an 8MP, f/1.8 selfie cam.

The new global vivo Y55s 5G is priced at NTD 7,990 ($263) for the 4GB, plus 128GB variant and NTD 8,490 ($280) for the higher-end 6GB, plus 128GB one.
