Samsung delivers One UI 5.1 update to the Galaxy A53 5G and A33 5G in South Korea

Peter, 20 February 2023

Last week Samsung detailed the global One UI 5.1 rollout schedule for its premium phones. The company’s mid-range offerings are also starting the transition to version 5.1 of the Samsung UI. The first to get it are Galaxy A33 5G and Galaxy A53 5G units in South Korea with firmware versions A336NKSU3CWB3 and A536NKSU4CWB3, respectively.

The pair received One UI 5.0 with the Android 13 update in November. This new update brings the version of One UI that was introduced with the launch of the Galaxy S23 series this month.

Note: the Galaxy A73 is not available in South Korea, so we haven’t heard anything about its update yet. Samsung hasn’t officially stated when the rollout will expand to new regions. The A33, A53 and A73 were unveiled in March last year with Android 12 and One UI 4.1.

Anyway, besides the new One UI 5.1 goodies, the new software version also includes the February 2023 security patch.

This is a hefty update, weighing 1.4GB for the Galaxy A53, so you should connect to Wi-Fi and ensure you have enough juice in the battery before starting the download.

It may be because of your carrier! Just look at this page once again, there are people complaining about Tmobile for being slow with the updates.

I haven't received a security patch since February for my A-53. I thought we were supposed to receive one every month for the first 2 years, then receive them every quarter after that. Someone please explain? Also i have T-MOBILE in the US.
