Leak suggests that the global Oppo Reno10 Pro will switch to Snapdragon 778G, lower res display

Peter, 07 June 2023

The Oppo Reno10 Pro that launched in China a couple of weeks ago is not the phone that will be sold on the global market – specs shared by leakster@Sudhanshu1414 point to a Snapdragon 778G replacing the Dimensity 8200 of the original model.

The old Qualcomm chip is significantly behind its more recent MediaTek rival in CPU and GPU performance. Its load will be lightened slightly by the new display – a 6.7” 1,080 x 2,412px AMOLED instead of the higher resolution 6.74” 1,240 x 2,772px panel of the Chinese version. Both displays have curved 120Hz 10-bit panels.

Oppo will be reducing the RAM capacity from 16GB to 12GB (LPDDR4X) with the option to add 12GB virtual RAM. The storage will be fixed at 256GB. The phone will launch with Android 13 out of the box.

There are further changes – while the battery capacity will remain the same at 4,600mAh, the SuperVOOC charger will be dialed down to 80W (down from 100W).

Despite a different look for the camera island the actual camera hardware remains the same. This includes a 50MP main camera (1/1.56” sensor, 1.0µm) with an f/1.8 lens with OIS. There is a 32MP telephoto lens as well (should be 2x magnification, IMX709 sensor) and an 8MP ultra wide (1/4”, 1.12µm). The selfie camera will boast a high resolution 32MP sensor. There's no MariSilicon label on the back, however, so that may have been cut.

Interestingly, it looks like the global model will gain a basic dust and water resistance with an IP54 rating (dust protected, protected against splashes of water). The Chinese phone has no official rating.

For now there is no word on the pricing for the global Oppo Reno10. Recent comments from Oppo revealed that the Reno10 series will launch in Europe this July (along with Oppo Air3 Pro buds and various IoT gadgets).
