CMF by Nothing registers a smartwatch and earbuds in India

Peter, 07 August 2023

Last week Nothing CEO Carl Pei announced the launch of a new sub-brand that will be called “CMF by Nothing”. This branch will focus on affordable prices and “timeless designs” and will start off with two products – a smartwatch and a pair of earbuds.

CMF has already registered those two products with the Bureau of Indian Standards – D395 (smart watch) and B163 (wireless headphones). This means that India will be among the first countries to welcome the new sub-brand.

Nothing has had a presence in the country since its very first product, coincidentally a pair of TWS buds. But unless Nothing has significantly increased its internal security, this also means that CMF will be the first in the family to bring a smartwatch – we haven’t heard anything about a Nothing watch yet.

There are no details on this watch – Wear OS or one of the more restricted platforms (that offer longer battery life)? We should find out more as the products get certified and listed by the various agencies (they always leak a thing or two).

Anyway, a quick trip to the FCC shows that the manufacturer listed for the smartwatch has built a lot of headphones before (sold under the JVC, HMDX, EMTEC, Blackweb and other brands). Our quick search didn’t turn up any smartwatches, though.

As for the manufacturer listed for the headphones, it has previously built headsets for Monster (Inspiration and iSport Spirit) and Cambridge Soundworks (Oontz BudZ).

If they make good stuff I'm all in for it. Also Android vs iPhone war in the comments is sooooo old, grow up guys. Both are good in their own ways.

Aha man... they also started with this sub-brand thing. 😓
