Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE price leak suggests they won't be much cheaper than non-FE tablets

Yordan, 07 August 2023

Samsung launched the Galaxy Tab S9 series two weeks ago, and the line-up saw three tablets - vanilla, Plus, and Ultra. Now, the company is preparing for the FE (Fan Edition) branch, which is supposed to offer better value for money.

A leak by Roland Quandt on Twitter.com suggests the least powerful Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE will cost INR 63,000 in India, which is equivalent to $763. For comparison, the base price of the Galaxy Tab S9 is $799.

The Indian price is for a 6/128 GB memory variant with no LTE, meaning the cost will increase from then on.

We should mention that Indian customers normally pay a lot more for Samsung tablets than Americans. The Korean manufacturer does have the biggest smartphone factory in the world in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, but slates are still built primarily in Vietnam, from where they are shipped across the globe.

Adjusting the leaked price tag would put the Galaxy Tab S9 FE at about $600, which is still way more than the $529 cost of the previous Fan Edition tablet, the Galaxy Tab S7 FE.

The Galaxy S9 FE was certified at FCC with an EP-TA800 charger, meaning the new slate will support 25W fast charging. Leaked renders also revealed this tablet will share the same height and width as the regular Galaxy Tab S9 but will have a thicker profile, likely making room for a bigger battery.

The major difference between the flagships and the FE variants will come from the Exynos 1380 chipset, which is less powerful, but should still do just fine for the majority of tasks.

The Exynos 1380 is pretty close to the SD778G benchmark-wise so it's more of a sidegrade, but given that it is a sidegrade, paying $100 extra for the ability to get 3 more One UI updates is indeed quite hard to justify. That is, of course, consi...

You can literally get the better non FE Tab S9 for not much more. Plus the charging speed is a downgrade since the tab S7 FE has 45 watt charging, packs a better SD 778G (WiFi model) and is currently less than $500. As a Samsung user, if this becomes...
