OnePlus Buds V launch in China, could be rebranded as Nord Buds internationally

Vlad, 21 March 2024

The OnePlus Ace 3V was just unveiled in China and rumors have been pouring in recently about how it will be launched internationally as the OnePlus Nord 4. OnePlus also announced the Buds V alongside the Ace 3V, and these true wireless earbuds are thus quite likely to be rebranded for international markets as Nord Buds... something later this year, while possibly arriving at the same time as the Nord 4.

That's all our speculation, by the way, so don't take it as gospel. But given all of the history and context surrounding these product lines, it would make perfect sense. So, if all of this pans out, what can you expect from the next Nord Buds, aka the current OnePlus Buds V?

They have 12.4mm titanium-plated drivers, with three preset sound modes - Balanced, Deep Bass, and Clear & Bright. There's also a Dolby Panoramic Sound effect for an immersive listening experience. The Buds V have Bluetooth 5.3 with 94ms latency.

They boast 8 hours of battery life on a single charge with a total of 38 hours if you factor in the case as well. A one hour charge provides five hours of use, and each earbud only weighs 4.3g. They are IP55 dust and water resistant and come in Sandstone White, Interstellar Blue, and Shadow Black.

Touch controls on each earbud let you manage playback, calls, and switch between tracks. Volume controls aren't available by default - you might be able to add them via the HeyMelody app. Out of the box, single tap is for play/pause, double tap for next track, triple tap for previous track.

The OnePlus Buds V are normally priced at CNY 149 ($20 or €19), but if you buy them alongside the Ace 3V smartphone then you only pay CNY 139 ($19 or €17). Given the pricing, we wouldn't be surprised if these would launch internationally as the successors to the OnePlus Nord Buds CE or the Nord Buds 2r.

OPPO Enco Buds2 Pro is this you?

Remember when the TSA siezed a shipment of OnePlus earbuds after thinking they were AirPods clones? Wonder why they would think that.

yay, more lithium-ion jewelry for your ears, that will cost as much as professional wired headphones. edit: ok I saw the price and it's much less than I expected, but I can still buy way better wired headphones, with no latency and no need ...
