Why don't HMD just revive the
symbian OS and start making Java phones again for Nokia? Nokia phones would be more interesting if Symbian would make an incredible comeback.

I'm looking at the storage - 8MB and I can't remember how old phones with buttons were.

I had a lot of them - Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Siemens, Sagem, but I remember being able to download and install JAR games on them. Surely, a JAR game would consist of at least 1MB in size, so you could install about 6-7 games tops and then you're out of storage, but I think older phones from 2004-2007 had more space - like 32MB or maybe even 128MB or maybe I'm mistaken and remember wrong?

when this available in the market? no pics for the gray color one?

This is a joke of a phone ,come on Nokia ,at least give 4GB internal space,2gig ram,3G network and wifi capabilities and a loud clear speaker since its Nokia 150 music

I don't understand why we still get 2g feature phones with such low specs but still expensive,
            i don't understand HMD's logic on this.

The camera resolution is a joke.
My sony ericsson from mid 2000's has a 3.0mp
              HMD must be joking

A 2g only phone in 2025??!!? Am I reading these specs correctly? If these specs are correct then Nokia's CEO must still be using Windows 95 and vhs tapes.

NormanOz, 05 Mar 2025Are you really trying to use this for Internet browsing? Or... moreIt's assuming that countries still support 2G. In my country; 2G has been sunset so minimal/no network support except in extreme circumstances. 2G has no consumer support in my country. Even then any mobile selling must have 3G min; but even then that's already facing sunset inside of 5years.

Macbeth, 04 Mar 2025Oh, well the phones I was referring to were the Nokia 5130 ... moreIt's completely obvious that they're trying to position this as a Nokia 105 successor with a MicroSD slot, definitely not to replace the older higher-end Series 40 lineup. This seems to make up for a cheaper iPod alternative/replacement with a Type-C port, and that battery is exceptional for a feature phone at that weight.

The only concerning thing about this phone is whether they'd use the AAC Nokia Tune or a MIDI version with these specifications.

Minu, 04 Mar 2025The legality isn't that easy to figure out like you wo... moreYeah I understand your point about legality and, just to be clear, I never meant to say that they should do a Chinese-style copy-paste of Symbian. 😅

My wish is that they make something new for their feature phones - something more useful than S30+, but not as advanced as Android - or just use Android but on keypad phones and smaller phones.

The second option would automatically reduce screen time for a lot of people as it would not be very convenient to doom-scroll on a keypad phone, for example. This would also allow users to have the power of Android for when they need it. Instead, they choose to work on that CloudApps thing. That was awful on my 3210 and utterly useless.

All I'm saying is that there are better ways to implement the two things that they're trying to do (their shut-the-phone-up campaign and their idea of triggering the old Nokia nostalgia). These poor feature phones and models like Aura or Crest are not going to help them achieve any of their goals.

Minu, 04 Mar 2025Have you not noticed how the Nokia 5030 XpressRadio has a m... moreOh, well the phones I was referring to were the Nokia 5130 XpressMusic, the Nokia 5610 XpressMusic, the Nokia X3-00 and the sort. All of which had excellent loudspeakers for music playback, which this phone definitely won't come anywhere near close to beating.

rohitmishra, 04 Mar 2025I'm sure the legality can be figured out. It does not ... moreThe legality isn't that easy to figure out like you would like to believe. Europe has different standards compared to Asia. That's why Chinese brands can get away with counterfeiting or even ripping off ringtones and wallpapers from other brands, without the requirement of a license.

Also, Stephen Elop's strategy is simply what ruined Nokia. If those actions weren't taken in the first place, a niche brand like HMD wouldn't have to deal with the above legal issues.

Agree about their marketing strategy. They can invest on better R&D, or form a joint venture with a similar niche brand (Xperia, Sharp, Fairphone etc) to use their monetary assests to assist in their brand development.

If anything, they either need to rely on crowdfunding or interested stakeholders to invest in their company. The only way bystanders can support them is to buy their products, for better or for worse.

Minu, 04 Mar 2025Then they'll have to use PureRTOS or KaiOS. The former... moreI'm sure the legality can be figured out. It does not even have to be a Symbian-reborn. HMD can work on something new keeping Symbian in mind. I believe that is more worth the effort than working on things like Detox Mode or Barca Snake or Barbie icons. That's where they should spend their software development resources.

I would even be happy if they bring back older Nokia phones with keypads and small touchscreens, but running on Android. Right now it's all boring and bland. Imagine those cute little Asha-looking models running Android 😍 or those cool sliders and flippers! 🖤

Instead, they're trying to invoke nostalgia by reviving these feature phones, which are nowhere near the old ones. They have a cheap build and feel disgusting to hold with all that cheap plastic.
