I know it's not the most stylish phone and it doesn't have all the bells and whistles but it has never stopprd working for me. It's like an old car that just keeps going. Dropped it many times and its just keeps going. I'm reluctant to buy anything else when this is still breathing.

Not a good phone for hearing disabled persons. Do not use/buy it.
I would not recommend it to any client.

hi my phone is broken so i want to use my old nokia 1600 until i get a new phone. the problem is that the 1600 has no signal. when i try make call or anything it says: "no network coverage". this has hapend previously and i get it fixed. now the garentee has expired and it is not worth sending it in to get fixed as the phone is very cheap and will cost me about half the price of the phone to get fixed.
Does anyone know how to fix this problem??.. Please!!

naeem sajid, 21 Dec 2008i have a nokia 1600 and in a some problem that when i put m... moremine also says "insert sim" or "invalid sim" i solved it pressing harder the battery over the sim helping me with a piece of paper between the battery and the cover.

I am about to receive two of these phones via Consumer Cellular. I now have a iPhone that I paid to have the ability to work with T-Mobile and my kid has the new Sidekick. Due to T's crappy service I decided to go with Consumer. Here is my question~since Consumer works with SIMS, would I be able to have the SIMS work in my newer phones versus the basic Nokia 1600? Thanks~!

You can also lock the keys by pressing the top left button and the * and then do the same to unlock

I like this phone. Works great, good battery life and everything works as it should. Phone was free with a $15.00/mo fee to add 300 minutes done every two months ($30.00). What's not to like. But, are there any optional equipment available for this model? Like ear piece so I don't have to hold the phone up to the ear. Does anyone know where to get one or if the phones ear peice ready??? By the way, I found a caring case for belt use at Walmart from Bytech Co. that fits this phone pretty good. Thanks DG
