This is very pleasant to listen that M/S Nokia has announced their 7 new inexpensive cell phones but regarding one of them “Nokia-1661” here I want to check that if the following faults of Nokia-1650 still exist then again I will not recommend to buy Nokia-1661 (the next version of Nokia-1650).
As far as the Keypad’s setting of Nokia-1661 is concerned I am feeling after watching few pictures of this particular Cell-phone from Internet that keypad-setting problem is not solved yet now!!!

DRAWBACKS, FLAWS & TECHNICAL FAULTS of Nokia 1650.

* Very bad & dreadful Keypad's buttons setting that interrupts to type a fluent text message.
* Poor quality of FM Radio reception specially indoor's response is so deprived.
* The sound of the Ringtones are very low, particularly the composed tones are extremely stumpy.
* Absence of SMS storage meter, so the users can't detect & watch the numbers of stored messages inside the Inbox, Sent & Drafts items folder, either in Phone memory or a SIM memory.
* Assigned numerical values for the Contents of Menu & sub menus are missing. For example if any end user does press 1 or 2 or 3 & 8 or 9 after pressing the menu key, could not browse the desire location directly.
* Where the 8MB memory does exist in Nokia 1650 & how could we utilize this utility?
* The back light timing is required in form of Time duration (I.e. mm:ss) neither in the pattern of (Normal, Extended, Off) time periods.
* We can fix only ten reminders in the dates of calendar & user can not view their assigned schedules with Date & Time individually as well.
* User can fix the Time tracker only above than 30 seconds not less than 29 seconds.
* The installation of torch & flashlight is also faulty because if we open the front cover of this cell-phone the Torch light is not exactly in the central position that is why consumer could not utilize the full advantage of this function so some adjustment in this regard is also required.

Thanks & best regards!
Yours truly, M*H@$$@N

vladimir, 05 Nov 2008nothing happened to nokia. it just realised that people wan... moreWow... what a comment, i think a 2mp camera is decent, i have a phone with 1.3mp and sucks, in the other things you are almost right, a lot of people today want all-in-one things like a N95 or a crappy Iphone... but everybody will have diferent opinions

a lot of people only buy a phone for the mp of the camera, another people buy for the looks and some people buy cheap phones (like i do) for basic features and some entertaint extras....:)

so people, buy what you want, if then is crappy...i'm sorry for you....:)

nothing happened to nokia. it just realised that people want to use their phones for talking.
seriously, what is a n95 for example good for? you have 1000 functions which are all crappy. crappy gps, and why should you use a phone with a small display as a gps, when you can buy a 4.3" display one, which is cheap nowadays. crappy camera, why should you need a 5mp camera on a mobile phone. 1mp is enough, you use a phone's camera to take fast snapshots, not to take artistic pictures; for that you can buy a camera. crappy mp3 player, for music you can use an ipod which is by far better. and most of all, crappy case. cheap plastic with "chrome" keys which starts to clear after serious use.
that's why i bought a 7900prism. not cheap, but i have a metallic case. not a cheap one. and if you are not interested, as i am, in the looks of the phone, then buy yourself a cheap and good one. for the rest of the functions there are 1000 gadgets that can do the job 1000times better than a phone.

This is a phone for the developing countries how need cheap phone to cover all the demand and to give to a lot of people their first mobile phone, it´s great for a kid too but this is a very interesting move form Nokia to gain the low market because almost everyone starts with the first most simple phone to understand all the features and then if you want you buy a better phone with more features..

Very similar to 1202 and 1208, let`s give some points...

Design: 5.5 (Simple and clean design, good size of the display, 1.8 inches is very nice for low range device, keypad doesn´t seems so nice... only how buys the phone will know if it´s confortable, the red buttons around the phone seem very tactile so that´s nice... just passable)

Features: 4.5 (Exactly same specs of nokia 1202 but with a color display... enough to keep in touch and to enter to the moble world)

Performance: 9 (Almost excelent, only philips with their Xenium phones can improve this battery life...well done Nokia, but still more to improve)

Remember people...this is a phone for developing countries...and very cheap!:)
