Nice little phone.
Easy to carry and simple.
But it's a shame that it does not have Bluetooth or infrared facilities.

Hey look an under specced Nokia, but let's pour on the praise for this phone.But as soon as Motorola, Sony Erricson, LG bring out a under specced phone it get's bashed by the holier than thou Nokia squad.

before two days i purchased the nokia 1680 and found it as simple, slim, carring easily and also find some new in tones, simple easy camera. luved it very much. but I've an suggestion to add fm more. regards

No usb cable no problem, u can download themes and ringtones via wap browser. Go to wap.zedge.com download what u like.

I bought this model couple of months ago as a second phone (step-phone). Frankly, it proved to be much better than many of the other cell phones. Sound & picture qualities, battery life and major functions are very very satisfactory. The only thing is that it does not have a bluetooth. Otherwise, it is a perfect phone for those who do not want unnecessary extras.

My assumption that the third wire was connected to the two outer contacts seems to be incorrect, because just now I was unable to detect any connection to the outer two contacts by poking at them with a needle connected to an ohmmeter probe. In fact, you are correct that the third (in my case, black) wire is connected to the outer metal sheath. As for the two center contacts, when I am looking at the tip of the plug with the contacts and the chamfered side of the sheath facing up, the left center contact is connected to a white wire, and the right center contact is connected to a green wire. I gave up trying before I was able to establish any direct correspondence between these wires and the contacts in the USB plug. Besides, don't you think there would have to be some kind of IC chip inside the USB plug to provide the translation between USB on the computer and serial port (RS-232?) on the phone?
