Mark K, 06 May 2009There is a lot of misinformation on the web stating (incorr... moreThank you Mark for your information. 1000% more helpfull than the replies I had from Nokia. "Sorry it's not compatible" .... :-(... at least they were sorry about it. But with your method, a bit of patience and plugging it the mobile phone several times I had the result I was looking for. A way to off-load my pictures and videos.
Thank you very much

If you have an email address you can setup your email on the phone and then send yourself an email attaching a photograph. The phone automatically reduces the picture to 640 x 480 but it is good enough to view on the computor. I do it often

A good basic affordable fone but lack of interface for downloading images and recordings (i.e. infrared, blue tooth or cable port) downgrades it to a photo album fone.

Kenny, 12 May 2009Hi, I just got the NOkia 1680 and am having tons of trouble... moreKenny, I bought my data cable from a seller named "skyined" on eBay, sold under the auction title "Data Cable Nokia 1200 1680 Classic 2600 Classic 1861." The cable is labeled "N1200" (for the Nokia N1200 phone which also uses this cable), and "M/N: DG-U8A" (which might be the model number, although I'm not sure). A couple pages back on this forum, someone posted on April 4 that dealextreme.com sells a similar cable, so there are probably other sources. My cable came with a CD of software, and the only file I used from CD was the Driver Installer program. The other software on the CD did not work for me, and I had to download the latest version of PC Suite from europe.nokia.com/pcsuite to make it work.
With a working data cable, the Nokia 1680c is actually a fantastic phone for the money. I've even used PC Suite to install J2ME apps on mine through the data cable, and it works great. It seems to have a maximum file size limit of about 512 kB for Java apps though. Have fun!

This is not a fantastic phone if you want to do loads of stuff with it like play music, show pictures on facebook or do bluetooth because this phone doesn't have a cable connecting to the computer so u can download your pictures and music.
