Grant, 02 Nov 2024Australia has just closed down 3g,had my nokia 208 for 12 y... moreI too miss the days of the S40 phones.
I was using a Nokia C2-01 as a secondary phone up until the 4G shutdown,
And now I'm in the same spot - wondering what to buy next.
I will probably end up with a Nokia 110 4G for my purposes..
But it's certainly no S40 phone..

I bought this phone for my kid and it seems like a good purchase so far.
He can call, send messages and take photos (and play snake).
I was happy to see that the browser (Miniopera) and preinstalled Facebook app can be locked by a parent. Other preinstalled games can fortunately only be played a few times (they are trial versions).
You can switch to 2G (we have it in our country) to prolong the battery life. The sound of calls is loud and clear.

I see many opinions here that are simply not true.

don't buy this phone. better get nokia/hmd 105 or a good cheap android phone.
battery life sucks due to 4G, have way less features than expected, has bloatware and the sound is too low for elderly people.
the phone has 4G and internet support but you can't use to it's full potential because the in-built applications are useless.
and the battery can't survive till evening, you have to charge it daily.
so better get 2G phone like nokia/hmd 105.

I switched from the 2015 version of Nokia 230 and alas it was not worth it so far.
Positives: screen quality and view angles are good finally, the phone is loud and the calls are clear.
Negatives: the battery on 4G mode is only capable of 3-4 days, switched back to 2G so it is 2 weeks now. Fine dust started to go under the screen (had this problem with Sony Ericsson W880i), key lock does not work so I can easily write number 1, 9 even if it is locked. The navigation button's edge is too small even for fingernail touch, so be ready to sometimes close everything accidentally. Cannot view sms like on 230, now it is something like a chat mode, have to scrool up to see all the message, annoying. Full plastic backplate, on the 230 it was metal.
