Anonymous, 31 Jan 2023When is a flipphone not a flipphone? I just want a phone ... moreWow. You have to push a button to answer the phone. That is just too much. What an inconvenience. You're kidding.

I have a smart phone, but my husband is technologically challenged. He has gone through several Nokias. When he would get a text message with a link, he would forward it to me and I would check it out. Now we bought a Nokia 2660 Flip. Cannot find any option for forwarding! Also cannot find any option to delete all text messages in one go. Nokia's progress is going backwards.

I bought one of these as a cheap spare phone for keeping PAYG spare SIMS alive. I have one that my sone use when he comes to the UK and a non UK SIM which needs occasional use to keep it going.

The phone is mall and light weight. It has one odd feature - the battery seems to run down completely after two weeks - even when the phone has been turned off. This is a definite black mark. If yo want the phone and a spare to keep in a car etc. then beware this problem.

I just got one as a backup phone also for smartphone detox, it's a really great looking phone especially the green one, it gets the job done, stellar battery life, it's just a bit of a shame flip to answer the call can't be enabled, other than that it's totally fine.

I will start by saying that I/we are very disappointed with the Nokia 2660 Flip phone that we recently purchased on the 09/05/2023.
My husband has a condition called Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP) which is like Parkinson’s Disease but more severe, and his cognitive responses are getting worse. So, we decided to look for an easier phone for him to use, as he was having difficulties with the Samsung smartphone he currently has. One of the features we were looking for was for the phone to answer a call when flipped open. I asked the salesperson if this phone would do this and was told (I now know) incorrectly that it would be in the setting to do that!
 For a start is not easy putting all the details into the phone, but I managed that without too much trouble, although my husband would not have been able to on his own.
 To Make a Call – it says type in the number – this is not very good, as most people would not always know the full phone number of the person they want to call – and you at least have to type in 4 – 5 numbers before the names come up from the contacts list to be able to then scroll to select the number required …..
 The Up/Down and Right/Left button around the main Select button is too narrow, it is not easy to use, especially for someone with bigger fingers.
 The buttons on the right-hand side of the phone – Top button Sound Level and the Bottom button Emergency button are too close together and can easily be pressed when trying to flip the phone open if your finger or thumb are not positioned correctly between the two buttons. It is far too easy to press the top button and decrease the sound level.
 The Emergency button is also not easily visible.
So, in summary as I said above, we are very disappointed and not happy with the Nokia 2660 Flip as an alternative phone for my husband, who needs something EASY to use.
IN OUR OPINION, WE HAVE JUST WASTED OUR MONEY BUYING THIS PHONE !
I hope that we will receive some communication from Nokia !!

I like retro-style nokia phones. I bought Nokia 3310 when the modern one was released in 2017 and I started to have a collection of some 4G variants since. Nokia 2660 Flip has a buggy contacts app, Nokia 215 4G's contacts app is better and supports up to 3 numbers per contacts. Don't care if this have a camera or not, I just read messages here and rarely text (I have a smartphone), wanted to delete facebook and games too (or stay unused). But the contacts to be buggy? I have a bluetooth headphones when making/answering calls on my android smartphone, but in this phone I prefer the nostalgia of unclamming it and open contacts app, use search (doesn't work here), place the phone in my ear and clam it again to end the call...

When is a flipphone not a flipphone?
I just want a phone for my wife, and I thought that, if anybody knew how to make one, it would be Nokia.
                              No.
The great thing about a flip phone is that you just flip it to answer, no swiping, no buttons, no fartarsing about. But not this one. When a call comes in, you have to flip it and then you have to push the big button.
                              NO ACTIVE FLIP OPTION
My wife has been despairing over this, and I have just discovered that probably the only times she has successfully received calls is when she has pushed the button by accident.
In the meantime its got a camera you would never use, a radio you would never listen to, games you would never play, Facebook, for christssake, and space for an extra SIM....
I guess they will never learn, yet they used to make the 5110....

Em1980s, 08 Oct 2022It will only have opera mini browser which is very basic an... moreI disagree. When I bought my lg Optimus l5, it had a removable battery of the same capacity, like 1450 to 1500 mah capacity, incredibly little for a smartphone that came with all the shenanigans like WiFi, GPS, Bluetooth 3.0, hotspot and HSDPA+ and it was my daily driver, a decade ago. The Optimus could still have 20 to 30 percent battery left at the end of day,

The Nokia 2660 has a smaller screen, TFT, no WiFi, no hotspot And an efficient Bluetooth 4.2 LE a2dp and the same 1450 mah battery, so I guess the phone can hold a full day without any problems

I have this phone. Had a samsung flip for 6 years and loved it, but it got too full, and I thought I would upgrade. Am not a smartphone fan, so chose this. Big mistake. Call quality OK, that’s about the only good thing. Battery life poor. SMS capacity is pathetically little, I have to purge every few days and I’ve only got about a 100 in there. You do get them in a thread format. Options for volume customisation is minimal. If you want the ringer volume off, then ALL sound is off, including the microphone. When you call someone and turn up the volume, then the ringer volume goes up. Have given myself and others a shock when I get a call and it’s up to 6/9 by accident after talking in a noisy street on a previous call. You cannot have it set to vibrate only. You cannot have a different volume setting for calls and texts. The volume button is on the side where your fingers are, so accidentally mute myself repeatedly. Interface is shocking, minimal customisation. Button design is ridiculous- the cancel button and the backspace button are both tiny and right next to each other, so I have repeatedly cancelled a text when I am half way through, when I meant to delete a letter - there is no warning. The search function on contacts is pathetic. If you want to find the number of someone, and type in E for example, it doesn’t go to all the contacts beginning with E, it finds all contact names containing the letter E - unbelievably useless. Adding contacts is painfully difficult, even for calls that have been received, or contact numbers in a text. In short, after three months (yes I have tried) I hate this phone and am changing. Wish I could get my money back. My first nokia and it will be my last.
