i love this phone but if u get it be prepared to have a lot of problems with it thats why tmobile does not sell it anymore. it breaks really easily even if its in your pocket.

maximum memory card u can use is 2gb. of course sum ppl have succeeded in using 4gb cards... but do it at ur own risk.

2 icons missing: yeah only the first batch of nokia 5300 had all twelve icons. from the next batch, the last 2 icons were relaced by a single icon... that is ur network provider icon.

low ringing volume: yeah dis one annoys me too. this feature was introduced in some of the s40 phones n i'm one unlucky person among many to have got this feature. the ringtone will start with a very low volume and reach the maximum volume only after 5 seconds, by which time i'd already have picked up the fone... this was introduced by nokia to protect our ears as 5200 and 5300 had the highest loudspeaker volume designed by nokia. really stupid...
of course the record has long been broken by 6233.

yup... some of the units have these problems... just upgrade your firmware. the latest version is 7.20 (RM-146). it solves most of the software problems.
for info on how to upgrade firmware... use google... :-)

some themes available on the net come with ring tones and sms tones. for those themes u need to reset your ringtone (the one that u want to use)...
themes are also available without ringtones... so in that case, your ringtone eill remain unchanged... hope this solves your problem...

hi there... in back. i've had this fone for 2.5 yrs. till now i have'nt been able to find an upgrade to this fone where music n other features are concerned.
im using creative ep-630 headphones with the adpter provided in the pack... n i swear i have'nt heard a single fone in my life with such splendid music quality.
upgrade ur firmware to version to 7.20 (RM-146).
well after 2.5 yrs...
pros:
1.superb superb music quality... uncompared n unparalleled.
2.superb display... it actually has the biggest display in s40 series. its actually 2.1 inch contrary to 1.9 inch as specified in websites.
3.practically millions of themes are available on the net compared to hundreds of themes for other fones.
4.UI is fantastic.
cons:
1.need a larger memory card. 2gb is just isn't enuf.
2.cam quality very poor... need a better cam (3.2mpix) wid flash preferably.
3.battery.... need a better back-up man... just 1 hr of calls drains this fone from full to nil.
4.there's no point in having side-mounted music keys if they don't work when keypad's locked...
5.need a slimmer fone...
so i'll be purchasing nokia 5330 next. all those ppl looking 4 an upgrade go 4 dis one. its got talktime of 7 hrs... etc etc. i don't want an s60 fone. s40's super fast n i love the features... n im addicted to themes. no giving all those n-series fones a damn...

superb phone..... at this time in market there is no phone available below rs.10000 compared to this.... superb features but the camera is good but not the best it should be minimum 2.0 mpxl
