but mine only shows 3gb instead of 3.7 that you are saying brother... i understand that there are some pre-installed apps that will basically take some of my memory but losing .7gb/700mb is big. isn't it?

it seems that nokia 5530 & samsung corby pro are in the same price range..but it offers much more features even if it lacks an os..which one should i select..i am confused...can u help me pls..

I think Nokia 5530 supports 32 GB as well.. But being honest, I haven't tested it by myself.. But lots of internet forums DO says 5530 supports 32 GB... (Among some of them are very trustworthy sources...)

Now answers for your queries..
1) 3 GB memory instead of 4 GB
You should get a capacity like 3.7 GB when it's empty.. Even though it's totally empty you won't get 4 GB.. It's simple arithmetic procedure.. Symbian as well as Windows calculate capacity as 1024 MB as 1 GB... But hardware manufactures calculate capacity as 1000 MB as 1 GB.. So when a hardware manufacture promises you a 4 GB SD card that means you get 4000 MB... But when it comes to Operating system it only shows 3.7 or something.. Because it calculates the capacity in GB 4000/1024... (In windows haven't you noticed big gap between real capacity and shown capacity..? For an example, when you buy 320 GB hard drive, you will only be shown a capacity of 299 GB...)
2) Links are not working..
I think those links I have provided regarding hacking a long time ago... Now those servers may have removed them.. So you better follow the recent 'hacking procedure' I posted few days ago... I haven't provided any links.. (Because GSMarena won't let me...) But the whole procedure is there very simply... (and our friend Rolden has almost done it..!)

All the applications you're looking for (NetQin & Quickoffice) are available in dotsis...

If you go there and register there (for free of course) you can have tons of applications just for free... and most of them are cracked versions and working greatly..
If you read the user comments carefully... then you may know 'this application works.. but this doesn't..'
and don't forget to give your comment too.. because it'll help someone else too..
regarding the 'update error'
When you previously have installed an application and trying to install another version or same version of it... Sometimes you get above error message... There is only one way of eliminating it..
Uninstall the application first
Restart your phone
Now try to install again

OK.. I'm trying to answer all your questions at my best...
First question of yours... I bought this mobile in November 2009 and I hacked it within a month and since then I installed more than 300 applications in it.. (at the moment I'm using the best 100 applications out of those 300.. Of course after doing lots of research and all...)
So I would say, if you're a good seeker... then it won't take more than two weeks to get used with this wonderful mobile and take the most out of it..
Regarding hard reset...
No.. Hard reset doesn't have anything to do with firmware update... Hard reset is something like formatting the whole system and reinstalling.. (In windows operating systems you know what is 'full format and reinstall windows' right..? Yeah... Regarding Nokia Symbian phones, hard reset is something similar to that... Only difference is, it doesn't require you to do anything except the command of 'hard reset'.. Then the phone itself will do the rest and will hard reset itself within about 5 minutes..)
If you hard reset your mobile when it's in V 20, then after the hard reset obviously the phone will remain V 20 as you haven't updated it.. Similarly if you hard reset it when the mobile is in V 31 then it'll be V 31 after the hard reset...
as Hard reset do format your whole memory and restore it to the default settings and memory then that means you'll loose everything... (Everything means 'contacts, messages, installed software etc...') and it'll be just like when you bought it..
OK.. Regarding 'hacking' brother... You have to remember few things..
There are firmware which are hackable as well as unhackable..
Eg: Nokia 5530 V12, V20 are hackable
Nokia 5530 V30, V31 are unhackable
I don't think Nokia likes their phones to be hacked.. You know why...? Because it gives the full freedom for us to do anything.. (Imagine call recording without beep...? Will Nokia like that..? Not at all..)
So if they got to know that their old firmware can be hacked.. then they release a new firmware which can't be hacked... (You get what I'm saying.. Right...?)
However if you update your firmware without doing a hard reset, Nokia takes care of Preserving the user data... (That means if you update your firmware to the newest Nokia will restore your preferences, contacts, messages, software installations etc..)
Now I don't really have to describe more here.. I think you already have understood what I'm saying..
5530 V20 is hackable... But V30 or V31 is not..
So you must hack your phone when it's in V20.. (Because after updating you can't do that..)
But.. When you do a firmware update Nokia preserves everything just like before... That means.. Your 'hacking' too will be preserved... That way only you can get a 'hacked V31' 5530... There is no other way..
But if you hard reset the phone when it's in V31 then you'll again loose your 'Hacking' and you'll NEVER be able to hack your mobile...

I got a question. when u say hard reset, do u mean updating de firmware via usb? i mean if the phone is hacked at v20 n updated to v31 wit de computer via usb.. the hacked settings wont be reversed rite?

i see, you know i have been following all the posts here even before that of given date release of 32gb microsd and i can't really think of somebody tried to use 32gb in 5530 so i cant really say whether it's ok to do.
you may always try but please still make some review and do it carefully, finally let us know, it will definitely be a great help...

hello, im interested in buying this phone and i was wondering if i could read pdf files and play facebook games in this phone?
There isn't a pre-installed reader but you can always install a cracked version for that.
if you are not able to pay for licensed apps. there are 3rd party applications available for free.
but you have to hack your phone..(hacking definition and process is already posted several times) please review posted opinions further.
